Jennifer’s busy piano studio at Oxenford on the Gold Coast teaches students from age 4 years to adult. A spacious studio equipped with up to date equipment and an extensive library including recording and midi resources.
Piano and written music subjects are offered ranging from classical, contemporary through to Performance examinations. Primarily a piano teacher, Jennifer also teaches Written Musicianship, Theory and Music Craft, Singing and Composition in her studio.
Jennifer’s students are encouraged to perform in regular Recitals, Concerts and Competitions. Students are also called upon frequently for community performances where they are highly regarded.
Studio Recitals & Concerts
- These are small, intimate soirees held in the studio to give students performance rehearsal and experience.
- Diploma recitals are held to give students opportunity to “try out” their programs and develop performance stamina.
- Encouragement soirees to share the joy of music making and gain confidence, both for the experienced and novice musicians.
Competitions
- MTAQ Inc. Gold Coast Branch – Composers competition. Held annually with prizes and trophies and encouragement awards.
- Queensland Piano Competition
- ASKM Piano Competition
- Gold Coast Eisteddfod – Open to all instruments and voice in many and varied categories.
Examinations
- Examinations are offered for those students wishing formal recognition of music study.
- Primary courses offered are AMEB in Classical Syllabus, Leisure Syllabus, CPM (Contemporary Popular Music) syllabus, Written Music Craft and Written Musicianship.
Intensive Summer / Winter School (for written music)
Intensive sessions (whole day/ half day) for groups of students.
- Usually in Summer holidays (Dec-January) / or mid-year (June-July)
- Students cover their whole syllabus in one day with instruction on topics and some hands-on work.
- Students begin “online practice examinations” and receive an “open book certificate of participation” which will be the total marks out of 100 for their score received.
- Follow up lessons during the year culminate in the completion of the examination online.
Vocal Group/ Choir:
Some of Jennifer’s students also partake in the vocal ensemble “Opus Singers” and vocal trio ~2-CHE~ directed by Jennifer, which has a fine performing profile throughout the Gold Coast. Jennifer has held positions as conductor with Griffith University Young Conservatorium Gold Coast and conductor of both Infant, Primary and Secondary choirs at Coomera Anglican College.
